Launching a campaign

Are we ready to run a fundraising campaign? How do we set the objectives and the strategy? How much do we need to raise and is this realistic? If not a campaign, can we make a major step change in a different way?

A campaign is the traditional way to ramp up your fundraising, but it’s a major (and sometimes daunting) undertaking. Most development offices will call in some external help to gain inspiration or reassurance – and campaign feasibility studies are among our most sought-after services.

The first step is usually to do an audit of where you’ve got to so far to assess your internal readiness. The next is to develop a good fundraising story or “case for support” that reflects realistic objectives – and the strongest needs. Then we can use our position as objective outsiders to trial the idea of the campaign with your prospects, usually carrying out detailed interviews. Finally, based on the responses, we provide an assessment of how much you might raise, a plan of action and, if you want, continuing support.

A feasibility study is a dynamic and inspiring process that can change the way both you and your donors think. It can give you confidence, understanding and even a bigger, better donor pool. In other words, it does much more than it says on the tin.
