Our new brand takes off in style with More Thoughtful
A new name, a new website, a new confidence…we celebrated the launch of More Partnership this autumn with two headline events at the British Academy in London and one in Paris at La Maison des Polytechniciens.
At More Partnership we go further than the services we provide to our clients. Philanthropy is a transforming force for our times. But while public interest in philanthropy has never been higher, so too is the level of scrutiny from the media and politicians; the debate remains fragmented, partial and often ill-informed. The inaugural More Thoughtful Forum; brought together a uniquely cross-sectoral and high level group: leaders from education, the arts, health and the charity sectors drew on their rich variety of experience to explore how we can work towards the creation of an enduring culture of philanthropy in the UK.
Lady Sue Woodford-Hollick, Chair of Leaders’ Quest Foundation and member of the AMREF international Board, chaired the session. Tunde Banjoko, Founder and Chief Executive of LEAP – the London based charity that helps individuals from some of the most disadvantaged communities to improve their economic and personal well-being – opened the discussion, focussing on his role in the face of huge changes to the support of publicly funded organisations. Clive Jones, Chair of the Disasters Emergency Committee, championed partnerships and collaboration, analysing the conditions under which organisations can be effective when they work together. Professor Shirley Pearce, Vice-Chancellor of Loughborough University, then used her deep knowledge of the Higher Education sector to demonstrate how the creation of long-term, meaningful relationships can lead to some of the biggest philanthropic gifts. Sir Vernon Ellis, Chairman of the British Council, cross-referenced the initiatives emerging from the Philanthropy Review encouraging giving and communicating the joy of giving.
Topics that emerged in the resulting debate to follow up at future forums include fundraising ethics, the power of language and the need to understand key trends in the world of work and how they will impact on people’s giving patterns. Themes from the discussion will be captured in a More Partnership publication in the New Year. To request a copy, please get in touch with Derek Paterson.
We were delighted to close the evening by welcoming so many of our friends and colleagues to our official launch event. With the celebrations in full swing, branding expert extraordinaire, Michael Wolff, gave us his Ten Top Tips in branding. Michael’s inspiration and wisdom played a fundamental role in helping us move from Iain More Associates to More Partnership, so it was a great pleasure to have him there to share his experience with the wider More Partnership family and friends.
