Tim Johnson to join
More Partnership

17 September 2018

Leading UK Charity CEO will become a More partner in 2019.

Johnson, currently CEO of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, has over 30 years fundraising experience across the charity and higher education sectors, with particular strengths in major gift and corporate fundraising.

Since joining GOSH Charity in 2002, Johnson has helped grow fundraising income from £15m to £100m a year and raised over £1 billion for the hospital, primarily towards the UK’s largest ever charitably-funded hospital redevelopment programme. As CEO of one of the UK’s top 20 fundraising charities and top 10 Charity Brand Index charities, Johnson has a wealth of experience across a wide range of fundraising and volunteer involvement, coupled with valuable brand marketing experience and a wider strategic, governance and compliance perspective. He is also CEO of the medical research charity Sparks, which became part of the GOSH Charity group in 2017 and a Trustee of the Costa Foundation, which funds schools in coffee growing communities and was previously a Trustee of the medical charity Jeans 4 Genes.

Before joining GOSH Charity, Johnson was Head of Fundraising at University College London and at Community Service Volunteers (now Volunteering Matters), whilst his earlier fundraising career began at Mencap followed by the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers.

Johnson said, “I have been fortunate to witness the life-changing and often life-saving impact fundraising can have on thousands of children and their families and the tremendous personal reward philanthropy brings to those generous enough to give their support. Over the years I have often been asked to provide advice and guidance to organisations wishing to increase their fundraising effectiveness. Through More Partnership I hope to share what I have learnt to enable a wide variety of organisations make a bigger difference to the causes they serve.

Rebecca Rendle, Partner at More, said, “We are excited that Tim is joining More. He has led remarkable growth at GOSH Charity, making a huge impact on children’s health. His extensive knowledge and expertise add further depth and breadth to our growing team. Above all, he shares More’s commitment to making full use of our talents to advance great ambitions, in partnership with our clients around the world.

Johnson will start his new role in May 2019.
