International fundraising leader becomes More partner on 1st October.
Maarten is well-known as a pioneer within European organisations in fundraising and alumni relations. He brings to More his leadership, strategic and operational expertise in campaigns and supporter engagement gained at a range of fine institutions in Higher Education and the cultural sector. Fluent in English, Dutch and French and with a working knowledge of German and Greek, he has worked for international institutions including World Press Photo, the University of Amsterdam, Utrecht University, The Cyprus Institute and The American University of Paris.
A key player in originating the alumni and fundraising programmes for both the University of Amsterdam and Utrecht University, Maarten was most recently Director of University Outreach & Advancement at The American University of Paris. There he was responsible for the conception and management of the AUP Ascending Capital Campaign, now well on its way to raising €26m for the development of AUP’s campus, its research centres and scholarship outreach.
Maarten is an active member of the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) and is a frequent speaker at their conferences and seminars.
Maarten said: “Education, research, and culture transform society and the individual lives that shape the future. This belief has provided me with a deep-rooted motivation to contribute to the advancement of institutions that take on such life-changing tasks. It inspires me to accompany these organisations as they increase their impact by building meaningful, sustainable partnerships with supporters who share their aspirations.”
Ian Edwards, Partner at More, said, “We are delighted that Maarten is joining More Partnership. Informed by a deep cultural sensitivity, he brings a breadth of experience that fits perfectly with the firm’s purpose to advance great ambitions – our own and those of our clients.”
